Jasia Ka is the New York Emmy Award-winning creator/director of GIRLS AREN'T FUNNY, an official selection this year at AFF in the Produced Digital Series. GIRLS AREN'T FUNNY is executive produced by BRIC-TV and won Best Comedy Writing at SeriesFest, Best TV Pilot at Laugh After Dark Comedy Festival, and was an official recipient of the NYC Women's Fund for Media Grant from Made in NY/New York Foundation of the Arts. GAF was recently featured in the article 'Independent TV Pilots are Having a Hollywood Moment' on Deadline.
Jasia is best known for weaving comedy through an atmospheric, dynamic and slightly surreal aesthetic and focusing on female and queer perspectives. A born and bred downtown Philadelphian, she describes her voice as 'punk feminist Rocky' and is passionate about telling underdog stories propelled by rebels and dreamers.
Jasia is also the creator/director of BUSHWITCHES, supernatural dark comedy series about a coven of witches living in Bushwick, Brooklyn. The Bushwitches embark on a series of magical misadventures in their mission to regain dominance in the tarot card industry and oh yeah, take down the patriarchy. Bushwitches was an official selection at NewFest: The New York LGTBQ+ Film Festival, SeriesFest and Catalyst Content Festival.
Jasia recently directed a Mark Duplass supported queer romantic comedy, STALLING, starring Caroline Klidonas which will premiere in 2025. Jasia is represented by Eric Williams and Elissa Friedman at Zero Gravity Management.
